My kids will not attend the new Crofton high school; but for the sake of families coming into the community, I completely support this issue. EDUCATING ALL KIDS COMES FIRST! Please help us spread the word and be heard by the AACPS BOE as a community.
The first meeting BOE in 2014 is Tuesday, January 7th, 7pm Board of Education Budget & Public Hearing at Old Mill HS. At the last BOE meeting in September over 150 BCHS supporters wore purple. Our goal is to double the amount of supporters. Bringing young kids is WELCOMED!!! They are the ones who will benefit from this movement.
The AACPS 2013 high school enrollment projections for the 2020 school year show the entire school system will be at 100% capacity...each year these projections rise (1,834 enrollments added to the year 2020 numbers since 2011). The NEED is clear. Redistricting and building additions will just push the problem down the road a year or so, at the same cost it would be to build a 13th high school AND building additions just makes these schools bigger! The BCHS committee chairs have created the attached presentation explaining why there is a need for high school in Crofton.
Please stand and be heard by attending the meeting on January 7th - and WEAR PURPLE. Also the Family Bike Shop is selling BCHS car decal stickers for $2.00. What a great way to advertise and support this effort.
