Teacher Appreciation Week – Donations Needed
Teacher and staff appreciation week is coming up on May 4th – May 8th. The hospitality committee needs various donations for this event. There are different events planned for each day of the week – breakfast, lunch, snacks, gift cards, school supplies.

Principal’s Honor Roll Breakfasts – Donations Needed
The final Principal’s Honor Roll breakfasts of the year will be held on Wed., May 6th for the 7th/8th grade and Fri., May 8th for the 6th grade. As usual for these events, the PTO will be providing the donuts and we are looking for donations of fresh cut fruit and drinks for each of the days. For the 6th grade we have 117 students and for the 7th and 8th grade we have 165 students.

Magnet Program Information Night – Attention 7th grade parents
A student and parent Magnet Program information night will be held for current 4th and 7th grade families on April 28th at 6:00pm at Old Mill High School. This meeting is planned to provide families with information on Magnet programs, the application process/lottery system and eligibility conditions. Please see the attached Parent Weekly Update for more information.
The National Junior Honor Society is partnering with South River HS for a book drive on April 20th – May 1st. Please donate new or gently used children’s books to help other students read to succeed. You can place your elementary level (K-6th grade) book donations in the bins located throughout the school.
If you missed online ordering for yearbooks, the school will have extra yearbooks for purchase at the end of the school year. The schedule for yearbook sales is as follows:
Wed., 6/10: 8th Grade Students
Thurs., 6/11: 7th Grade Students
Fri., 6/12: 6th Grade Students
Mon., 6/15: All Grades
Math Summer Bridge Program – Attention 6th Grade Parents
There will be an opportunity for extremely successful Common Core Math 6 students to attend a Summer Bridge program which will provide a possible opportunity to be placed in STEM 7/8 in 7th grade. This program is currently scheduled for July 13th - July 28th, excluding Fridays. More information will be coming but we wanted to make sure that you were aware for vacation planning purposes.
Students must be successful on the final exam at the conclusion of the Summer Bridge Program. In August, the Math Office will inform CMS of students who should be placed in STEM 7/8 after successfully attending and completing all requirements of the Summer Bridge Program.
Current STEM 6/7 students are also invited to attend in order to maintain their skills over the summer.
2015-2016 Volunteers Are Needed
Volunteers are desperately needed to help continue several CMS programs next year – gym suit sales, hospitality, fundraising, membership, bypass coordinator, volunteer coordinator, website and social media coordinator, etc.
In addition, there will be several open PTO board positions next year – WE NEED YOUR HELP!
